What is Pulmonary Fibrosis?
Pulmonary fibrosis is a lifelong lung disease. PF occurs when there is scarring in the lungs that makes the lung tissues stiff. This leads to complications in breathing. You may have also heard someone refer to it as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. IPF is simply one of the types of PF, it is referred to when no cause has been found. Causes of PF include certain medications and medical procedures, exposure to hazardous materials, family history, and possibly other diseases.
